PARALYMPIC SWIMMING WORLD SERIES KICK OFF IN LIGNANO SABBIADORO

Lignano Sabbiadoro, [03/13/2025] – The Paralympic Swimming World Series have officially begun, marking the prestigious Italian stop of the World Championship. Until Sunday, the Olympic swimming pool at the Bella Italia & Efa Village will host the seventh edition of this extraordinary event, featuring a total of 421 athletes competing in both the World Series and the Italian Championships.

This is the second stop of the 2025 World Series, following the opening competition in Australia. At the same time, the Olympic swimming pool at Bella Italia & Efa Village will also welcome the Italian Paralympic Swimming Championships, offering athletes a unique opportunity to compete in an international setting. This special occasion celebrates Paralympic sports and brings together the entire Italian National Team that competed in the last Paris Paralympics.

“The continuous growth of this event and the confirmation of international participation demonstrate that the organization is working well and that this location is ideal,” says Daniele Zotti, president of the local organizing committee. “We are proud to welcome athletes from all over the world and to provide them with a facility that ensures independence and an experience comparable to that of a real Olympic village. I would like to thank all the volunteers, sponsors, and Bella Italia for their hospitality—without their support, this event would not be possible.”

In the days leading up to the event, physical and visual classifications were also conducted, which are essential for correctly assigning athlete categories. Physical classifications were carried out at the Bella Italia facility, while visual classifications took place at the Lignano Emergency Room. A special thank you goes to the Municipality of Lignano Sabbiadoro, the Udine-Latisana Hospital, and the GuardaMedical company, which, for the second consecutive year, has provided essential facilities and equipment for this process.

The Paralympic Swimming World Series and the Italian Championships represent the beating heart of the Italian Paralympic Swimming Federation. Since 2018, the Italian stop of the World Series has been held alongside the National Championships, creating a unique opportunity for emerging athletes to experience an international atmosphere and compete with some of the best Paralympic swimmers in the world.

The event, organized by the Local Committee under the leadership of Daniele Zotti, is made possible thanks to the support of major sponsors such as DANIELI, ABOCA, ARENA, SUPERABILE INAIL, AVIS, FRIULBRAU, CENTRO UFFICIO, BELLAITALIA, GUIDOSIMPLEX, and GUARDAMEDICAL, as well as the crucial contribution of numerous volunteers.
